We’ve been shortlisted at Young Cannes Lions!
by Josefina Franci at April 27, 2016
2016 has been a great year so far at fst, with loads of exciting projects and good news.
The latest piece is that we’ve been shortlisted at the Young Cannes Lions in the Film Category!
Back in March, Matt and Josefina were briefed at The Guardian’s office to come up with a social media video for the Red Cross to encourage people in the UK to help and have a more positive attitude towards the refugees arriving in their hometowns. We had to think of a concept and then film, edit and send the final result to the Young Cannes Lions UK organisers in only 48 hours. And, last but definitely not least, everything had to be filmed on phones!
If we progress past this stage, Matt and Josefina will attend the Cannes Lions Festival in France and participate in the Young Cannes competition against the other winners from the rest of the world. And if they win… fst wins a Cannes!
Young Cannes Lions is an international competition happening all over the world, which gives up-and-coming creative and media professionals the opportunity to compete in the prestigious Cannes Lions in June.
The judges that selected Matt and Josefina’s film as one of the best in the competition are:
Ana Balarin, Executive Creative Director, Mother
Anna Bateson, Marketing Director, YouTube
Corinne Evans, Head of Media and External Relations, British Red Cross
Alex Fraser, Head of Refugee Support, British Red Cross
Tim Hunt, Marketing Director, Guardian News and Media
Paul Jordan, Executive Creative Director, mcgarrybowen
Tim Riley, Creative Partner and Head of Copy, AMVBBDO
What happens now? We need to keep our fingers crossed until May 5th, when the winners will be announced. Regardless of the future results, we’re already proud of the achievement and will celebrate tonight with some drinks and games.
